After the service...

Jo was our very own larger than life character, full of life and song. How often did the sedate coffee and biscuit session end up with Jo busting into song and delighting us, sometimes with even a little bit of a dance to accompany the tune? Jo could sing anything, from hymns to music hall favourites and we loved her anecdotes which made us laugh, usually at her own expense, of course.

Jo's kindness towards others, her tolerance and understanding and love of animals will always colour our memories of her, but the most outstanding attribute of Josephine McSweeney was her abiding faith. She knew her Bible better than most of us and thought nothing of asking deep questions of faith to put us on the spot.

Jo was very mannerly and though she made no secret of the difficult times in her life and despite all the challenges that old age brought her, her gentle courtesy was an example to us all. So many of our congregation will remember her with love and thanks for all she gave to those around her.

Rest in peace and rise in glory dear Jo; Heaven will be a livelier place with you amongst the angels.
